Fake Rolex watches and now fake anti-aging creams. Counterfeit products are an eye opener to all businesses and have recently invaded the beauty industry. Counterfeit skin care and cosmetics products are being produced in China and sold as authentic throughout China’s ecommerce market. And unfortunately, some are trickling over into the US markets.

Recent independent tests conducted on Chinese ecommerce sites reveal that almost 50% of all prestige skin care products sold on Chinese websites are counterfeit. With intellectual property rights virtually unenforceable in China, it is not shocking that counterfeiters now make fake $150 anti-aging moisturizers.

Manufacturers of fake skincare products have even gone a step further to certify their counterfeits are authentic. They would ship the Chinese-produced fakes abroad and then import them back into China in order to obtain certification as “imported”. An imported label usually signifies higher quality and authenticity and so, commands a higher price than a counterfeit.

Fake skincare may have the same packaging however the formulas inside the products are not. An investigative report in China showed that some beauty masks being sold on WeChat, a mobile messaging service used widely in Asia, contained extremely high levels of glucocorticosteroids, 6000 times more than allowed that is safe under the law! Glucocorticosteroids are used in some skincare products only at very low concentrations for skin health.

Wet Shaving Does Make You Look Younger!

Shaving with a razor really makes your skin look younger according to women. The new beauty craze adopted by many females these days is to shave their own faces. Their belief is that removing dead skin off the face with a manual razor allows the younger more vibrant skin layers to come forward giving one a much more smoother complexion with less wrinkles.

Since men shave frequently or daily, they exfoliate their skin on a regular basis. 3 Electric Razor Shaving Tips For Sensitive Skin

We at TwinLuxe prefer shaving with a manual razor such as a straight-edge or a Gillette Fusion cartridge razor because you get a closer shave. But not everyone is a fan of wet shaving. Some of you just like it plain and simple and shave with an electric razor. This blog is about general skincare, so why not offer tips for electric shavers? We shave with an electric razor sometimes and have some simple electric shaving tips for you who have sensitive skin and/or redness.

1. Use your electric shaver when your skin is dry.
This is the most important tip of all. Unlike wet shaving where it’s mandatory to have wet skin, we feel for dry shaving with an electric razor, you get maximum performance when your face is not dry or moist.

So for example, if you shave in the morning after you take a shower, we recommend waiting 15 minutes after showering. This will ensure your face is completely dry. Electric shaving while your face is still moist or damp leads to excess friction between the rapidly moving blades and your skin. This excess friction leads to the blades minutely cutting your skin which results in redness. So brush your teeth, put on your clothes, do your hair, or eat breakfast before you shave. Change the order of your morning routine so waiting 15 minutes doesn’t alter your schedule if you’re in a morning rush.

The proof that this tip actually works will be that not only will you notice redness dissipate, you also will feel your electric razor gliding more easily on a dry face and also more hair discarded after every shave than if you shaved right after you showered when your face was moist. And to your amazement, you’ll also hear more cutting noise during the shave too.

2. Make sure the battery of your electric razor is no less than 80% power.
Performance of your razor declines when the battery falls below 80%. The razor heads slow down a little, and your shave isn’t as close. Not only do you hear, but you’ll also feel the razor not cut your facial hair as cleanly when the battery isn’t at maximum power. The evidence is when you discard the trimmed hair down the sink. If you discard the hair after every shave, you will notice more hair discarded after a shave with full power than after a shave where the battery is 20%. So if you want a cleaner shave with less skin irritation, shave when your razor is at full power.

3. Replace your electric razor blades every year.
Knives become dull after use, so you have to maintain and sharpen them every so often. The same goes with electric razor blades. Dull blades don’t give you clean shaves and cause irritation and redness, so make sure you replace them yearly.

Follow these simple tips, and you’ll notice irritation and redness dissipate when shaving with an electric razor.

Getting More Shaves From Your Razor Blades

Unless you shave with a double-edge safety or straight razor, we all know that replacing commercial blade cartridges can be costly over the years. Most guys replace their Fusion or Mach3 blades every week or two. The truth is you can get more life out from your razor blades if you just follow some simple cleansing tips post-shave.

The major cause of cartridge razor blades turning dull is because of oxidation and microscopic rusting. These blades are not made from the highest quality stainless steel. One Simple Way To Check If You Shave Properly

There are videos and articles posted all over the internet demonstrating the proper techniques on how to shave your face. And there is a simple way to check if your wet shaving routine is up to par: Splash and pat water onto your freshly shaven face and see if it stings or not (before applying any aftershave balm).

If you get any type of stinging facial sensation, it means your shaving routine and/or technique is flawed. If you don’t encounter any stinging sensations … Congratulations! You are one of the few!

Most men, however, will find that their face stings after this simple test. A properly executed close encounter with your blade should result in no irritation at all. So what do I do if my face stings?

First, check your shaving cream. A shaving lubricant that does not provide enough protection against your razor may be the culprit. We only recommend using slick and moisturizing shaving creams like the TwinLuxe Smooth Shave Cream. Toss the shaving gels and foams away – they simply just are inferior to creams when it comes down to performance and protection.
